A trip to Lagamar

Cardoso Island is an island near Cananéia city in "Vale do Ribeira" which is on the South Coast of São Paulo state.
The weather in Cardoso Island is hot but it can rain heavily (in summer). In winter it generally doesn't rain.
There you can see a great varity of animals like dolphins, the "jacaré do papo amarelo" (in a museum) and sharks (in museum) there are waterfalls, rocky pools, etc...
You can go into the mangrove, you can walk on the Atlantic rain forest and have a look at the scrub vegetation "restinga" or swim in the sea, jump in waterfall and visit "Lagamar".
You can stay in Cananéia, because in the island there is no electricityity. In Cananéia you can stay in some inns called "Pousadas"
You can eat in restaurants homemade food like rice, beans, chicken and meat or fish which is the typical food.
To get there you will need to take a highway called Régis Bittencourt (BR 116). On the middle of the way you will get trough a city called Iguape.
In Iguape you should spend a day, because it is a historic city, with lots of historic heritage, like the main church and the square where it is situated. There is a place called "Morro do Espia". Where you can have a great view of the city and of Lagamar.
Then should continue your way to Cananéia in the same highway (BR 116). Arriving in Cananéia you take a boat to Cardoso Island.
Here are some tips: Before going (10 days before) you should take lots of pills of vitamine B, to avoid insects. Don't enter the "Restinga" if you are allergic to mosquitoes. There you will need a jacket, a hat, a raincoat, some jeans, and long sleeves T-Shirts. Don't forget to take insect repellent, sun protection lotion and your camera!
